If you’ve been reading around here for a while, you know I am not the biggest football fan in the world. As a matter of fact, I really don’t even like it! But, my husband and little 5-year-old son are big fans, so it’s not something I can completely write off.

Occasionally, my husband throws little tailgating parties with his friends. These parties are usually geared more towards adults, and by that I pretty much mean the food. My son still gets to watch the game with his dad, but I usually have to make him his own football spread which is a pain.

When we throw our little football parties, it takes a ton of prep on my end. I have to make the budget, plan the food (around the budget), pick up party supplies and decorations, ect. It tends to make me a little crazy. See photo below of our super bowl party spread…

Last Sunday, when I was getting the dishes together for my husband’s little shindig, a thought popped into my head. Why not have our own little family football party?! I mean, football comes on twice a week anyway! Why don’t I just throw a stress-free football party that DOESN’T break the bank for once? The kind that doesn’t cause me stress and keep me up at night!

Well, this week we did, and it went amazing! Even for me not liking football, I really enjoyed myself and can’t wait to do it again! Want to throw your own family friendly stress-free football party? Follow the directions below.

How to Have a Stress-FREE Football Party

1.Don’t make the food!

For a stress-free party to actually be stress free, you have to minimize your tasks. Cooking is a great way to blow your budget and stress yourself out. I can’t believe that I’m going to say this, but that’s why you should just skip it!

Head to your local ShopRite and pick up some great prepared game day party foods and refreshments that are sure fit your budget! You can find the hot and fresh prepared chicken in the prepared food section next to the deli.

This week for our party we collectively opted for an 8-Piece Fried Chicken family meal. My family all got their favorite pieces.

My husband got the crispy skin he loves, my son got to eat the legs, and I got the delicious white meat breast. It was the best way to please everyone with all our pickiness. Plus, it was a real treat for us seeing as we never really have fried chicken and I didn’t have to make it!

Even cooler, when you pick up your ShopRite Kitchen 8-Piece Fried Chicken meal, you can save $0.99 on either a 1.25L Coca-Cola™, DASANI 1L or FUZE® Iced Tea 1L with your Price Plus card.  And, nothing goes with fried chicken like an ice-cold Coca-Cola! All you have to do is swing down the soda isle to grab your Coca-Cola.

If you are not a fried chicken fan, you can still snag a deal at your local ShopRite! Pick up a Coca-Cola 16oz or FUZE 20oz with a Ready Pac 11oz Bistro Bowl (ready made salad) to save $0.50 with your Price Plus Club Card.

2.Pick up party supplies from the discount store.

As with any party, you have to have a few festive party supplies to get everyone in the spirit! Head to your local discount (or dollar) store and pick up a few themed items like matching cups and napkins, a table cloth, ect. Don’t go crazy though! You really don’t need to grab matching balloons, dip bowls and more for a family party.

Plus, when you grab disposable items, you cut out the dishes. That ties in with the whole minimize your tasks thing I mentioned before.

3.Keep it Simple.

It can be easy to get caught up in the glory of planning a party for just your family. Don’t fall into that trap and overboard with the food or party supplies! We want a stress-free party, don’t forget. Keep your family football night simple and have fun!

Speaking of simple fun, if you have a littler one or a significant other that doesn’t enjoy football as much as you, try playing a fun game of game day bingo while watching the game. That will keep everyone engaged and happy. You can print out your four-different game day bingo cards by clicking here or the image above. Fill in the squares with snacks of your choice.

Well, there you have it! The secrets to throwing a stress-free family football party are not some crazy far fetch ideas. All you have to do is not cook the food (just grab a delicious 8-Piece Fried Chicken and bottle of Coca-Cola), pick up disposable and cheap party supplies, and keep it simple! With minimal effort, you can have a great game day family party and make some awesome family memories.

What are you waiting for? Head to ShopRite right now and pick up 8-Piece fried chicken and Coca-Cola or FUZE. Don’t forget to use your Price Plus card so you can save!

  1. Great tips! It’s awesome to be able to make things a little more fun and special, but when you do it so it stresses you out it really defeats the entire purpose! This sounds like the perfect low key way to enjoy a weekend!
